The Alchemy Series explores hidden architectures within the natural world through original macro photography and artistic transformation.
Each work begins with close observation of Scandinavian forests, where leaves, mosses, lichens, insects, and botanical fragments reveal structures rarely perceived at human scale. Through a deliberate visual process, these fragments are transformed into contemplative landscapes that exist between observation and imagination.Veins become cartographies. Moss becomes terrain. Colour becomes atmosphere.Rather than documenting nature, The Alchemy Series investigates how perception alters meaning, inviting viewers to reconsider the relationship between scale, fragility, resilience, and wonder.All works originate from original photography and are developed without the use of generative AI. Each artwork is released as a strictly limited edition of five physical prints.
Botanical CartographyA quiet transformation where structure outlasts form.This work began as a fallen leaf collected in a Scandinavian forest. About the artistMy artistic name is Borealis Microcosmos, and my work is driven by a fascination with hidden worlds that exist beyond ordinary perception.Trained in biological sciences, I have spent much of my professional life studying living systems, observing how structure, pattern, and transformation shape the natural world. Over the years, I have lived and worked across Spain, Italy, Japan, Sweden, and Denmark, experiences that have influenced both my scientific perspective and my artistic way of seeing.Years spent observing biological systems cultivated a habit of looking closely: at patterns, structures, transformations, and the quiet architectures that shape living things. In Scandinavian forests, that same curiosity found a different expression through photography.What begins as a fallen leaf, a fragment of moss, or a trace of decay often reveals something unexpected under magnification. Landscapes appear where none seemed to exist. Veins become cartographies. Texture becomes terrain. Through macro photography and artistic transformation, I explore the boundary between observation and imagination, inviting viewers to discover wonder within the smallest fragments of the natural world.My work is presented under the artistic identity Borealis Microcosmos and focuses on limited-edition fine art photographs rooted in original photographic observation and thoughtful artistic transformation, never generative AI.I am particularly interested in works that combine scientific curiosity, material quality, and emotional resonance.
